For the Sausage Pizza Topping:
300 grams cocktail sausages or hot dogs, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 tablespoon tomato paste, 200 ml pizza sauce, ½ teaspoon dried oregano, ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes, ¼ teaspoon black pepper
For the Cheese Layer:
200 grams grated mozzarella cheese, 100 ml heavy cream
Method
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat the oven to 220°C using conventional top and bottom heat. Line a large baking tray with parchment paper.
2. Prepare the Fries
Spread the frozen fries across the prepared tray in a single layer. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.
3. Bake the Fries
Bake for approximately 20–25 minutes, turning them halfway through, until golden and crisp.
4. Slice the Sausages
Cut the cocktail sausages or hot dogs into small, evenly sized rounds.
5. Cook the Sausages
Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the sliced sausages and cook for approximately 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned.
6. Add the Tomato Paste
Add the tomato paste to the pan and cook for approximately 1 minute, stirring continuously to distribute it evenly.
7. Add the Pizza Sauce
Pour the pizza sauce over the sausages. Add the dried oregano, red pepper flakes, and black pepper, then stir until well combined.
8. Simmer
Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer the sausage mixture for 2–3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
9. Add the Mozzarella
Sprinkle the grated mozzarella evenly over the sausage mixture.
10. Add the Cream
Pour the heavy cream gently over the cheese and sausages.
11. Melt the Cheese
Cover the pan and cook over low heat for approximately 3–4 minutes, until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is bubbling.
12. Prepare the Serving Dish
Transfer the crispy fries to a wide serving bowl or heatproof dish.
13. Add the Sausage Topping
Spoon the hot, cheesy sausage mixture evenly over the fries, making sure the sauce reaches every layer.
14. Serve
Serve immediately while the fries are crisp and the cheese is hot and stretchy.
